In February 2025 CVAN EM will award one bursary of £1500 to an artist or arts worker living or professionally based in Nottinghamshire. This opportunity is part of CVAN EM’s Bursaries scheme.

We offer small grants twice a year to assist with research trips due to take place in the UK and abroad. In the autumn we also award a small travel grant on behalf of the Andrew Wyld Fund. Our Author Grants help support individuals working on articles and publications.

The White Pube Creatives Grant is a one-off £500 grant to be given out to a different working class creative practitioner based in the UK once every month. This grant has been set up to support creatives of all ages who are early in their careers and would benefit from this no-strings attached financial support to help them in whatever they like - be that money to cover time to make, or money to fund materials, equipment, research, subscriptions, development, travel, or even rent and bills. The grant is open to anybody who makes stuff. Art, writing, performance, sound, music, craft, comedy, games, whatever you want to throw at us.

Grants of up to £2,500 for young creatives looking to bring their ideas to life.

Given The Elephant Trust’s modest resources, grants have usually been limited to £2,000, but with the recent addition of the Shelagh Wakely Bequest some larger grants of up to £5,000 may be awarded. Priority is given to artists in the fine arts and small organisations and galleries who should submit well argued, imaginative proposals for making or producing new work or exhibitions.

The Migration Stories: Art as Activism Bursary offers financial support to producers whose work highlights migration issues and inspires action. You might be a producer who has migrated to the UK or work with artists, activists, and projects that are fostering a global conversation about migration.

4 bursaries for working-class writers baed in Scotland

The grant will enable either a representative from a UK festival to visit a festival or festivals in mainland China. Through attending the festival, participants will gain a better understanding of the cultural landscape in mainland China, and make connections which will benefit their festival in the UK.

Artists are invited to submit work for exhibition alongside members of the Royal Society of British Artists at the RBA Annual Exhibition 2025

The Herbert Smith Freehills Portrait Award returns for 2025. The prestigious painting competition celebrates the very best in contemporary portraiture and will include captivating works from around the world, by both self-taught and more established painters. 

Artists and designers coming from all fields, architects, curators, writers and other artistic researchers, makers and critical thinkers, including duos and collectives, can apply for an 11-month residency at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht, the Netherlands.

Back to Basics is a multidisciplinary residency program that allows artists to clear their minds, get back to focus, and (re)discover the very basis of their being. Take a break from your phone, reconnect with your creativity, be part of nature and learn to stay present again.

As the emphasis in this program is on reconnecting with your creative practice and being, no predetermined project plan is required. Participants are encouraged to arrive with their minds open for on-site observations, ideas, self-reflection and interacting with other residents. With support from the professional staff, facilities, and the program structure, Back to Basics allows you to go back to what matters to you.

Abbey Awards offers residencies for painters at the British School at Rome. Artists are selected from an annual submission, open to UK and US citizens and residents. An Abbey Award allows artists the opportunity to focus on their practice, free from everyday pressures and distractions, with accommodation, meals and stipends all provided.

Eastside Projects, Wysing Arts Centre, New Art Exchange, PS2, Spike Island, Studio Voltaire and Site Gallery are excited to invite applications from artists for Syllabus VIII, starting in June 2025. Syllabus is a codesigned learning programme in its eighth year, supporting ten artists across ten months.

An established artist or designer will be selected whose primary country of residence is outside the United States.
