It's Not Rejection, It's Redirection
I don't know who needs to read this, but...
Apologies for the late newsletter this week. I know what it is I want to write about, but it’s taking a little time to articulate (pun not intended). It’s also been a slower-paced week as I manage what’s been a slightly challenging time health-wise.
I still wanted to send over a note, especially as I know that, after a short and frustrating delay, DYCP (Developing Your Creative Practice) decisions were finally released this week. Some of you received the news that your application was successful—huge congratulations. I hope you’ve taken a moment to acknowledge what a brilliant achievement that is. Others received the news that their application was unsuccessful, which I know has come as a real disappointment—a feeling I know all too well. It’s not easy to sit with, especially in the early days, and particularly when you’re trying to work out what comes next.
The newsletter I’d originally planned to write was all about that—how we move through disappointment, how we find new paths when things don’t go to plan, and how we slowly begin to pivot. I’m reminded of that phrase, “It’s not rejection, it’s redirection”—something that’s easier to say than to feel, but still worth holding onto. This quote has helped me and others massively over the years!
A fuller reflection will be with you on Monday. But for now, if you’re navigating disappointment this week, please know: it’s not the end, even if it feels like it.
Wishing you all a positive and gentle end to the week.
